About Us
Abilities Development Ltd is a private company founded in 2011 by a former qualified special needs teacher.  Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, offering specialised services to individuals with learning disabilities.  We aim to provide solutions to help especially young people with disabilities to access opportunities and enhance their lifestyle within the home, during school and beyond school.

Our residential home is a non-traditional service where our clients, with a wide age range, enjoy the benefits of being at home away from home. We run Programmes and activities for individuals with disabilities, Innovative programmes for children and young people with disabilities.

enable and empower families with young people with disabilities to enjoy life to its fullest through person-centred planning and support
support young people with disabilities through the life journey with positive impact within their communities, homes and other environments
develop the abilities of young people with severe and profound learning difficulties/disabilities and complex needs by using various stimulating experiences
provide a service that exhibits warmth and support for staff, clients and all with whom we come into contact
provide a leading edge service that will have a major impact on achieving improved quality in the services provided for individuals like our clients nationwide
provide quality activities that are varied in nature and linked to personalisation and recognition schemes such as accreditation to promote confidence, strong self esteem and a sense of purpose for our clients

Abilities Development Ltd believes that every person with disabilites should enjoy a quality of life that has positive, unforgettable and meaningful memories.  We believe that the journey from birth and throughout the lives of these individuals is as important and significant as their peers.  We aim to create, provide and extend opportunities to these individuals and their families regardless of age, race, faith, gender and/or severity of disability and help them to fulfill the potential for their lives.

WELCOME
Welcome to Abilities Development, a place where we realise abilities beyond any disabilities.  We offer services to young people and young adults with moderate, severe and profound learning disabilities and difficulties as well as those with complex needs.  Our range of services includes day programmes, respite and residential assisted living.

We are a supporter of The Learning Disability Coalition - where organisations work together to ensure that there is enough public funding for people with learning disabilities to have the same chances and choices as everyone else. Swimming at local community centre swimming pool
Community Engagement: shopping, workshops in libraries
Meal preparation - preparing own lunches, snacks
Art & craft and mini-enterprise
Leisure and sports, keep fit - bowling, using the wii and gym equipment, cinema, kareoke
Games and recreation - puzzles, bingo, dominoes
Health & Well-being - facials, manicures, pedicures, aromatherapy
Day trips - seaside, country parks, discovery centres

Applications

We accept new cleints at anytime throughout the year.  To start the process, please complete an application form and return it to us.  A member of our team will be in touch to arrange an initial assessment with the family and other people who are involved with the client.

Our team of quailified profesional service providers will review the assessment report and decide on whether we are able to provide the required level of care.  This will start the admissions ball rolling.

SERVICES AND INFORMATION
Day activities are personalised to meet the needs of each client as much as is possible and include access to the community, learning independent life skills, social skills and participating in leisure and recreational activities
All acivities are underpinned by the thread of promoting the functional communication, literacy and numeracy skills needed for basic living.
Our highly skilled staff work with the client and all the people involved in his/her life to design programmes suitable for the needs presented in order to encourage and develop independence.

Holiday Programme
Activities in and around the community during college and school breaks. Trips to seaside, museums, picnics, visits to discovery centres etc.

Residential Assisted Living Plus/Respite
We accept referrals from Social Services, parents and families and other professionals. Please see our brochure below.

Saturday Club 10:30 - 16:00
This Club offers activities to young people to engage in different activities based on their interests.  Some of the mini-clubs will include: gym club, art and craft club, cycling club, swimming club and cinema club.  Young people will get an opportunity to rotate the clubs that they get involved in.

We offer outreach in different ways and are eager to work with clients and their families to plan the support they need. 

Respite and Residential Assisted Living
Residential Assisted Living Plus
Based at 118 Salmon Street, Kingsbury, our residential home is a non-traditional service where our clients, with a wide age range, enjoy the benefits of being at home away from home.  The clients continue to show lots of progress and enjoy staying with us.
We have seen vast improvements in behaviours and progress in independent life skills and ability to socialise.

Respite Care
Our new respite home is situated at 340 Preston Road, Wembley; we can support 3 clients at a time.  We offer a variety of experiences to enable them to enjoy their time away from home. 
We accept referrals from Social workers and individuals.  Please see our forms below to apply for a place in our home and also to book your stay

All of our policies and procedures are accessible on request.  We have Public Liability and Employers Insurance as well as Professional Indemnity Insurance.  Our insurance also covers the clients.  For more information please ask to speak to any or our managers.  Some of our services are offered on a contractual basis.  We are CQC registered to provide residential, short breaks and domicilliary care.
