We Make Southampton CIC is a social enterprise that produces short documentaries focusing on the people of Southampton and what matters to them. A significant part of our work is engaging with communities 'on their doorstep' and 'on their terms. We have a 12 meters long fully equipped mobile office on wheels, Claudia's Bus, a wonderful sponsorship from First Bus Southampton, which enables us to take part and create a safe space for discussions at community events, as on a bus there's no hierarchy, so ordinary citizens have been talking with decision-makers in the city. We worked with the Clinical Commissioning Group, with the Southampton City Council, with charity and arts organizations, we organised NHS tours through the city in areas with no community venues. We carried out research on behalf of highly reputable organisations like Citizens Advice or progressive charities like Parents Support Link and Communicare. Our aim is to know Southampton like 'the back of our hand' and make that knowledge accessible to those needing it or those interested. We aim to create a network of volunteers to capture on film, audio, and words, the contemporary life of their distinct neighborhoods. Currently, we are working on a robust training program. My background in high-end current affairs and award-winning documentaries since 1993, is now serving the city where I chose to live.and which I want to help fulfill its potential.
