3 Keys to motivating yourself, your team and Millennials

In these uncertain times you have to have somebody beside you to bounce ideas, pick you up when you are down, keep you accountable to the tough decision you will have to make. This is why you need a coach more than ever, and my 30+ years of working with businesses gives me the experience to be that person. Owning and running a business is one of the most exciting and rewarding, yet frustrating things that you can do. Whether you are a “SENIOR DIRECTOR” who has worked up the Corporate ladder, a “SERIAL ENTREPRENEUR” who loves starting and buying businesses or a “SKILLED INDIVIDUAL” who started the business using your own skills, and now manages others to do the same.

There comes a time when you realise that you don’t know what you don’t know and the skills that got you to here, aren’t going to get you to the next level. That is the great thing about business, there is always another level should you wish to climb to it. Well actually there are 3:

The first level is to make money by growing your PROFITS – you have to learn the strategies that will grow your sales and profits sufficiently so that you can make more money than you need to survive, and invest in the second level.

The second level is to buy yourself TIME by investing in people and processes – If you don’t invest in your systems and processes and take on and train better people, you will be destined to be a slave to your business forever and never get to level three.

The Third Level is to create CHOICES – Once you have a Commercial Profitable Enterprise that will Work Without YOU, then you will be in a position to see the choices that running your own business can give you, such as an

EXIT – cash in your hard work and live off the proceeds
MAINTAIN – live off the income your team generate for you
GROW – through replication or acquisition and start the “game” again

The reality is that it is “LONELY AT THE TOP” and everybody will benefit from a little extra focus, guidance, education and occasional kick up the backside. This is why serious sportsmen and women take on a coach.
